Rich in Compassion House
Compassion Child Care has a housing program for single mothers. The house is located near downtown Sioux Falls and can accommodate five families. A resident assistant lives on the premises to offer support and encouragement for the tenants and the house managers coordinate events and activities. The goal of the housing program is to provide single mothers the opportunity to take a year to be refreshed, save money and pursue peace in their lives.
Details and Amenities
Each mother and her children has their own living quarters which includes two bedrooms and a bathroom. In addition, there is a shared kitchen and multiple living spaces.
Rent is $300 a month and covers all housing expenses with the exception of cable. Of the $300, $150 of the monthly rent is placed into a savings account for each family. When the family leaves at the conclusion of a year, they receive that money back to apply toward moving expenses such as a deposit and first month's rent. In addition, $75 of the monthly rent goes into a house fund that is managed by those living in the house. The remaining $75 of the monthly rent pays for utilities and maintenance.
No deposit is required and there is off-street parking, free on-site laundry and a large, fenced-in backyard.
Application Process and Tenant Requirements
Tenants must be single mothers who have at least one child enrolled at Compassion Child Care. If there are two children in the family, both need to be under the age of 12.
